My Favourite Role of the Week

This week, I’m going with Graphic Designer for the recently granted ECHL expansion franchise; Greensboro Pro Hockey Club. While the team won’t lace them up for another season, I think joining the franchise early in a creative role like this would be an absolute blast!

Advice of the Week

My advice this week may seem like common sense, but I’ve been seeing it happen enough recently that I wanted to mention it here for everyone - while you’re looking for a new job, don’t burn the bridge at your current role.

We all leave jobs at one point or another, the reality is that we’re likely not going to spend 40+ years with the same company today like past generations may have. In fact, in 2024 the average job tenure in the US is just 4.2 years.

So even though both you and your boss likely know you won’t be there forever - you should still go about applying to new jobs and transitioning to a new role amicably. You never know when you may wish to use this company as a reference, or when a potential employer may call your manager, or if your current company opens a new branch where you’d be perfectly suited for a bigger role.

I recently knew of someone who told all his coworkers, including managers, that he was interviewing elsewhere and was a near shoe-in for this “better aligned, better paying job.”

Naturally, he did not end up getting the new job. Don’t be like this guy.
