Welcome to December everyone,

I hope everyone had a lovely US Thanksgiving, and that you have all found some great deals over Black Friday + Cyber Monday!

The American holiday last week does unfortunately mean less teams were opening up new jobs - but I’ve got 33 of them for you today, including some vey cool ones!

I’ve also got TWO exciting announcements to share with you all, which you’ll see more about as you scroll down 👇

My Favourite Role of the Week

My favourite role this week is easily the Manager, Broadcasting & Scheduling job that the PWHL has opened up. First and foremost, this is just a cool role. Getting to work with all the teams and partners to coordinate schedules and broadcast channels and streaming arrangements sounds very interesting.

Secondly, you guys are always asking for remote jobs, which are super rare in sports - but this role is remote within Canada or the US. Be sure to check this one out!

Advice of the Week

For my 1st announcement in this newsletter, I am excited to share that I’m teaming up with my friend Ian Beckenstein at Behind The Keyboard 🎉

Behind The Keyboard is the only dedicated resource bringing readers behind the scenes from minor hockey to the NHL. From tips & tricks, to interview prep and job postings, they have you covered in all aspects of being an NHL video coach. There is a free subscription option, a paid option as well. Being a paid subscriber gets you access to their discord server, plus all the archived content and job postings.

Ian and I will be continuing to share resume advice and career advice with you all, kicking it off with 2 resume tips below:

  1. Keep it short! This is the number one tip I can give! Coaches and teams will be receiving countless applications for their openings. Do your best to keep your resume to one page, keep it clean, concise, and specific.

  2. Formatting Formatting Formatting. Imagine there are 50 white papers on a table and the Head Coach is looking for 1 to stand out. Try adding the team logos and other images to help your resume pop and stand out. You can add logos for the softwares and platforms that you are familiar with. You can bold and underline key items. These will help give the “wow” factor and potentially separate you from others.

Lots of roles from last week’s newsletter are still open for new applicants; be sure to check it out! 49 New Job Openings within Hockey - Monday November 25th 2024

My 2nd exciting announcement of the week is that this Friday, December 6th, I’ll be at the Sports Girls Club Women in Hockey Summit at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey!

It’s going to be a jam-packed event with something for everyone; including myself and my fiancé Sam hosting a booth during the Career Fair portion of the day!

Seattle Kraken Assistant Coach Jessica Campbell, Founder of Stathletes Meghan Chayka, and ESPN Reporter Emily Kaplan are just a few of the stars that will be in attendance; and personally I cannot wait to hear them all speak in their panels.

Tickets are going QUICK, but there is still time to get them. I hope to see a bunch of you there; be sure to bring your resumes if you come!
