My Favourite Role of the Week
Changing it up a little bit this week, I’m going with Manager, Hockey Development for Hockey Alberta as my favourite role of the week!
These sorts of roles don’t come available too often, and I think an opportunity like this provides a great way to give back to the game and ensure it’s in a good spot. There’s so much 💩 being sold these days in youth hockey that I personally feel roles like this are becoming increasing important. Definitely check it out!
Advice of the Week
This is more of a fact than a piece of advice, but most hockey teams only hire in-person roles.
Does that suck for some of us? Yes. Is it silly at times? Sure.
But the reality is, teams want people in the building, and with how many people are dying to work in sports, there’s no need to for them to change their policies or adjust their expectations. There will always be countless people lining up for their in-person jobs.
Now, I don’t say this to discourage any of you. I know some of you live in very rural areas or cannot relocate at this time. And there are some league offices and hockey product companies are frequently hiring remotely.
BUT those of you who DM me asking if the Toronto Maple Leafs or Boston Bruins are hiring remote interns or remote hockey ops roles, it just isn’t realistic, even if other industries are adjusting.
