Hello everyone,

I’ve got some sweet jobs to share this week, so let’s get right into it!

My Favourite Role of the Week

Solely based off the uniqueness of this role, my favourite of the week is Junior Reporter (ages 9 to 16) with the Vancouver Canucks. I think it’s a great idea, that leads to great content and good-will for the team, while being the experience of a lifetime for one lucky kid!

Advice of the Week

I’m going to try to start adding more tangible career advice, job application advice, or networking advice to each weekly newsletter. This week, I want to focus on resumes.

You’ve all heard this before, but it shocks me how often I’m seeing several page resumes. When possible, keep your resume to 1 page. Especially those of you still in school or recently graduated.

I know we all want to throw as much information as possible on the page, to wow the recruiter and talk ourselves up - but the reality is, recruiters are human beings too. They skim things. They gloss over large sections. They have hundreds of resumes to read. The more succinct you can keep your resume, the better off you will be.

My resume is not perfect, not many are. But after 4 internships, 5 years of full-time work, and owning 2 side-businesses; my resume is still on 1 page. If you’re young in your career, yours should be too.
